Understanding the JAMMA PCB and Edge Connector Pinout
First, here’s just a little history behind the significance of the acronym, JAMMA.
Back from the dark ages of the Golden Era of arcade video games (1984 and earlier), match manufacturers functioned in exclusive little domain names where they made game elements in a way that best served their own interests.
Thus they had their own proprietary circuit boards, power supplies, and repairs. There is no pcb manufacturing usa of components between one manufacturer’s game cabinet and a game cabinet made by someone else.
As a result of japan, around 1985, all that exclusivity was soundly laid to break. And, things permanently altered.
The most significant and powerful of the new standards was the PCB standard pinout. Any match PCB complying with this particular pinout standard is exactly what we now call a JAMMA board. You’re able to see the JAMMA logo delivered near the pin-out section of a JAMMA board. Almost all JAMMA boards sport that logo.
The wiring which connects the match components – monitor, power supply, control panel, speaker, etc. – into the PCB is known as a JAMMA wiring harness. The wiring harness 56-pin edge connector seats onto the PCB’s pin-out hands on.

The following JAMMA pinout chart is essentially a map of the JAMMA wiring harness 56-pin edge connector. When correctly seated on the PCB, the connectors of the edge connector will align with the pin out fingers of this PCB, and also your game will play.

The solder side would be the bottom side of the PCB. It’s the side at which the soldered connections of parts are all vulnerable to see. Few, if any, all parts are situated on the other hand. The solder side pinout is identified with alpha characters.
The parts side would be the top side of the PCB. It’s the side where the components are . The parts side pin-out is identified with numerical characters.

Key Slot – A keyed slot that aligns with a leave-out at the pinout section of this PCB.
